Spiritual Myths are Stupid
I’m here to break the rules. I don’t like being told what I
should and should not do, how to behave, and what is acceptable or not. I don’t
resonate with anything that I don’t know for a fact from my own experience or
from the divine guidance that comes through to me. I’m going to walk you
through a few of the most irritating spiritual “myths” that have crossed my
path since I started on my journey years ago.
Coffee :: Seriously?!?
Why in the hell would someone living a spiritual lifestyle not be able to drink
coffee? Yes, I get it, caffeine could be considered a drug, but in my mind I
certainly wouldn’t call it cocaine. If we are in this human body, there are
some benefits to it. We can taste and eat and drink a variety of things that
taste yummy to us.
Coffee is like a morning ritual to me. It’s one of the very
few things that I do every single day and it gives me comfort. I know it’s not
the “best” thing for me, and I accept that. However, I do enjoy it and it does
to impact me in any way that I would find questionable to my mind, body, or my
spirit. Give up coffee? Never!
Alcohol ::
Another one? Yup! This is yet another silly thing that has crossed my path,
with people telling me I can’t be spiritual and drink a glass of wine. What is
up with all of these stupid rules anyways? I get the bad parts of alcohol. That
when we drink, it allows us to detach and sometimes not feel emotions. That
alcohol can become addictive if we have that lesson in our personality, I get
it. I know that when I was stressed at work I drank too much. I could see it
and I could feel it, along with all of the pain and frustration of my job. I
used it as a coping mechanism, and it helped me feel calmer when I got home. So
I didn’t take my frustration and anger out on my family, which would have been
very easy to do. Ultimately, if you want a drink, don’t feel like you can’t and
still be spiritual. You are here to experience all of the things this world has
to offer, so go for it.
Meat :: Is it
necessary to be vegan to be on a spiritual path? HELL NO! I’ll tell you that some people are, and I’m
good with that. Everyone has their own free will and can do whatever feels the
best to them. Also, as we age, our bodies need different things, and I accept
that without any second thoughts (especially now that I am middle aged)! I did
have a 6 month period of time when I attempted to be a vegan and it didn’t work
out in my favor! I felt like ass, I had zero energy, and it was just really
hard to do in my life. I tried it for several months, and that was a period of
time where I was really grumpy. I promise you, I’m not here to be grumpy!
Spiritual People are
all Rainbows and Unicorns :: This is
absolutely the biggest pile of shit I have thought about in such a long time!
In my case, I became spiritual after having an absolutely horrific childhood!
Becoming spiritual certainly isn’t about getting walked all over or taken
advantage of from my point of view! I will tell you, I certainly do not think
life is all rainbows and unicorns. It can be incredibly painful! However, I
believe that spirituality allows us to accept moments, learn from them, and
ultimately grow to the best of our ability. No one is perfect. We’ve all been
made the way that we are, to make a difference and have an impact on this world.
Spiritual People eventually all “get there” :: Do we eventually
become all knowing? That’s a freaking joke (In my opinion, of course)! Being
spiritual doesn’t eventually end. It’s something that we all naturally are,
when we come to this world. Whether we come to understand it or acknowledge it,
that’s something for us to figure out. Not all of us will walk this path, and
that’s okay too. We all have different learning capabilities and different
goals when we come here. We are constantly learning and experiencing different
situations so that we can become even better versions of ourselves. I also
believe that some souls right now are going through an immense amount of
challenge so they do not need to come back for any more learning or growth
experiences. If life seems exceptionally challenging, I hope you can take
comfort in realizing that you are becoming a stronger, better version of
yourself! It’s not easy, but it will always be worth it.
There are plenty more “stupid” spiritual myths, but I’ll touch on them some other time! Until then, be free and live your life according to your rules!
